President Sata to appoint cabinet and roll out development plan

Hong Kong, Sept.29 –Newly elected Zambian President, Michael Sata, is today expected to appoint key members of his administration and set out a working plan for his government.

President Sata is expected to announce only strategic members of staff at State House and cabinet.

Those likely to be unveiled at Thursday’s news conference in Lusaka are Sata’s Deputy President, State House support staff, a handful of key ministers and permanent secretaries.

Other non-strategic personnel will be appointed in the coming days of Sata’s reign.

This will be Sata’s first news conference since he was elected as Zambia’s firth head of state last week.

State House has officially put out a media statement announcing the exact date and time of the news conference.



LUSAKA, Wednesday September 28, 2011  His Excellency Mr Michael Chilufya Sata, President of the Republic of Zambia, will on Thursday September 29, 2011 host a Press Conference at State House.

Their Excellencies High Commissioners and Ambassadors, and all Honourable Members of Parliament are invited to the function. All should be seated by 1030hrs.

This is the first Press Conference to be hosted by the President since his inauguration on Friday September 23, 2011.

    It is timely. But the appointed ones should not sit idle and doze in Parliament. We voted. We need results and they should not Zambians for granted. If they mess up, we now know how to vote.

    Home affairs should allow the law prevail on William Banda. He is a threat to society and we have seen this.
